just imagine... you're homeless woman, you have about $5 to your name and your cycle just started.
do you buy femmi products and go without food or buy fast food and while waiting on your order, run to the restroom and fill your pockets with toilet paper? for some women, this is a dreadful monthly decision.
what is #p4ms?
in the summer of 2013, the Restoring Our Women Network (ROWN), a community collective of women within , made a pact to provide resources for girls and women in transitional periods in life (i.e. shelters, natural disaster & domestic violence victims, rehabilitation centers & youth group homes). this lead to the responsibility of supplying women with more than just simple guides to affordable resources and clean facilities. they soon realized that most of these women lacked basic survival items like sanitary and personal hygiene products. well they decided to do something about it and sponsored a donation drive to provide 250 Sanitary Survival Packs for these women.
while they did not meet their goalin 2013, they did however receive an overwhelming response to the donation drive and fundraisers supporting the efforts. since then, they've decided to continue creating these packs as an ongoing, annual, community service project, with art and science education fundraisers throughout the year. so of course they had to give it a unique name and a cool hashtag and BAM! #P4MS was born!
The #P4MS Project is a 90 - day donation drive that happens once a year from August 21 - November 21st where 9 counties in metro-Altanta and the surrounding communities come together to help ReBUILDMe.org Inc. & ROWN supply, package and distribute sanitary survival packs to women in need.
